Abortion extremists have called for their sympathizers to disrupt Sunday church services on Mother’s Day 2022 because a document leaked from the United States Supreme Court has indicated a possible dismantling of Roe v. Wade. Attorneys from the Thomas More Society have contacted the radical group identifying itself as “Ruth Sent Us” to put them on notice that trespassing, violence, and vandalism will not be tolerated. Posted videos and accompanying rhetoric on social media have documented these fanatics attacking churches and committing damages in their chosen uniform of white caps and red capes.

The Thomas More Society makes clear that any breach of the law or violation of the constitutional rights of religious believers will not be tolerated, and that what may pass as civil disobedience on the public right of way is totally out of bounds in a house of worship. The attorneys point out that participants in the group’s shenanigans could face “significant legal liability under both California and federal law” for their actions. The letter also puts them on notice that obstruction of or interference with a person’s First Amendment right of religious freedom at a place of religious worship is illegal.

Recounting a February 28, 2022, incident, the correspondence refers to the group’s trespass during Catholic Mass at the Cathedral of St. Mary of the Assumption in San Francisco, an occasion on which they rudely disrupted the sacred service. The intruders recorded the abusive event and then promoted it on various social media platforms, including Twitter. Links to multiple tweets or posts on Twitter that document the occurrence are included with the letter.

“Since the police brutality protests in May 2020, the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops has been tracking hate crimes committed against Catholic properties,” reports the Thomas More Society communication. “To date, the Bishops have identified 129 incidents of vandalism, arson, and other hate crimes directed at Catholics. The most recent of these occurred on the evening of May 3, 2022, and appears to have been a direct response to the leak of a draft Supreme Court opinion in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization.”

The communication with the extremist group cautions that with 25 years of “successfully vindicating the legal rights of pro-life and religious individuals at all court levels,” Thomas More Society attorneys “will gladly represent any church or person of faith who seeks legal recourse against you or your protestors for your unlawful disruption of any religious worship services.”
