Thomas More Society Reacts to U.S. Supreme Court Decision in Abortion Pill Case

Today, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled 9-0, striking down the legal challenge to the FDA’s approval of the abortion drug, mifepristone. Peter Breen, Thomas More Society Executive Vice President & Head of Litigation, reacted to the U.S. Supreme Court decision in FDA v. Alliance for Hippocratic Medicine:

“Today’s decision from the U.S. Supreme Court about the FDA’s approval of mifepristone did not address the merits of the case, including the serious concerns about the safety of mifepristone and the harms caused by the Biden Administration allowing mail-order chemical abortions, where the pregnant woman is never even seen by a doctor. Mifepristone continues to be illegal in over a dozen states and the mailing of mifepristone remains illegal under federal statutes.

“Now more than ever, the need to protect the availability of Abortion Pill Reversal is critical. Abortion Pill Reversal is a second chance at choosing life for the pregnant mothers who have taken mifepristone and immediately regret it. Unfortunately, this life-saving protocol is under attack in states like California and New York, where we are proudly representing Heartbeat International and pro-life pregnancy centers, and fighting to protect their right to help women save their babies—even after taking the first abortion pill. In light of today’s decision, our resolve to protect the life-saving message of Abortion Pill Reversal is strengthened.”
