Mourning the Loss of Chris Young, a Client and Friend of Thomas More Society

On February 25, I learned of the untimely passing of a client and friend whom the staff and attorneys at the Thomas More Society will greatly miss. Chris Young, pictured here with his wife Kara and young daughter, Mary, passed away suddenly after suffering a heart attack while driving home from giving a pro-life testimony against an abortion bill in the Rhode Island Statehouse.

Pro-life Advocate Chris Young will be Missed

Young was only 51 years old, and I have fond memories of representing him as a defendant in 2010 when he was falsely charged with disorderly conduct after placing a DVD on the effects of abortion on the table in a public forum on healthcare. After a tenacious legal battle we had his case dismissed a few short months later.

Chris and his family also handled the annual Rhode Island nativity scene display at their state capitol. Chris was not only a staunch defendant of the sanctity of life but he was also a personal client and a man I have great respect for. I have fond memories of visiting Chris and his family in Rhode Island and talking with him every year at Christmastime as he was a volunteer with the American Nativity Scene Project, a client of ours in Mount Prospect, IL.

The wake will be held on Monday, March 9 from 4-7 pm at Russell Boyle Funeral Home in Providence, RI. The funeral is scheduled for Tuesday March 10 at 10 am at Sacred Heart Church in West Warwick, RI. Friends of Kara and Mary Young have organized a memorial fund.
