A knock on the door: Mark Houck testimony
On Wednesday, October 18, 2023, our friends and donors gathered from all across the nation to Thomas More Society’s 13thannual Omaha banquet.
We were honored to welcome Nebraska Governor Jim Pillen to award Nebraska State Senators Kathleen Kauth and Joni Albrecht with Defender of Life Award in recognition for their tireless efforts defending the lives of the unborn through legislation.
And of course, our very own Tom Brejcha and several of our Special Counsel were able to share about all the good happenings at the Thomas More Society.
Pro-life hero Mark Houck reminded us that if you and I truly care about the right to life and all the liberties granted to us by the Constitution, we will put in the time and effort to defend those liberties every single day.
We unveiled a video where Mark Houck and his wife Ryan-Marie detailed the terrifying story of Mark’s unjust arrest by the FBI.

It was truly inspirational to hear from Mark as he relayed the harrowing details of his unjust arrest and trial.
“You don’t know freedom till it’s taken from you. You don’t know the gift of it.”
Mark’s sentiment prompts us to reflect on our own lives as he made it clear that the same immoral treatment he experienced could happen to any of us in this culture that’s so hostile to conservative values and those who seek to defend unborn life.
But Mark wasn’t the only one with a special battle cry for us that evening.
Governor Pillen reminded us of the reasons that drive everything we do, every sacrifice made by pro-lifers across America:
“Conservatives need to wake up…Every baby counts. Every young mom needs help to choose life and love. Love conquers all.”
The lives of voiceless unborn babies depend on it.
