People of the State of New York, by Letitia James v. Red Rose Rescue, et al.

Thomas More Society successfully defended pro-life advocates with the organization Red Rose Rescue against a contempt motion brought by New York Attorney General Letitia James. The motion, filed in response to an alleged violation of a December 7, 2023, preliminary injunction issued by Judge Kenneth M. Karas, sought to penalize the defendants for supposedly breaching a 15-foot buffer zone around abortion facility entrances in New York’s Southern and Eastern Districts.
On March 11, 2025, Judge Karas denied the contempt motion, a victory for Thomas More Society, which argued that the peaceful pro-life advocates of Red Rose Rescue had fully complied with the injunction’s terms. Senior Counsel Christopher Ferrara's defense emphasized the absence of evidence of noncompliance, securing a ruling that rebuffed James’ ongoing crusade against pro-life sidewalk counselors and pregnancy centers.
